Task Force Asia is a joint effort of the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC), the Philippine Ambassador H.E. Maria Teresa P. Lazaro, in coordination with the Ambassador of Indonesia, H.E. Lucia Helwinda Rustam and the Philippine-Swiss Business Council, Manila.
Task Force Asia is helping to increase awareness of the enormous extent of the devastation in the Philippines, Indonesia and other Asian countries. This gravity of the situation is also shown by the huge efforts of the members of SACC active in the countries affected and Task Force Asia wishes to encourage companies and private individuals to follow the example set by our members, and therefore will publish reports on such efforts if the respective members agree.
Task Force Asia is maintaining a website to provide a source of first hand information from the people on the ground.
Task Force Asia actively supports the fundraising activities of Swiss Solidarity/Chaine du Bonheur/Glueckskette/Catena de Solidarita. SACC is cooperating with Swiss Solidarity, and all funds collected by SACC from its members and related persons will be considered donations by those members to Swiss Solidarity (which will also issue the receipts).
Swiss Solidarity will use the funds in accordance with its proven criteria in cooperation with its local partner organisations, and SACC will be consulted.
The SACC aims to provide sustainable long-term relief to the people affected. Apart from emergency aid, its main objective will be reconstruction, i.e. to support the affected communities to rebuild their homes.
